Specialties (areas of training / educational programs) The Department of Processes and Equipment of Chemical and Oil Refining Industries (POHNV) of the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies (TeSET) of Sumy State University (SSU) is licensed at the 4th highest level of accreditation.

The department trains specialists with higher education according to the three-level system of educational and qualification levels:

  • Bachelor in the field of knowledge 13 - Mechanical engineering by specialty (direction of training) 133 - Branch engineering in educational programs:

    • computer engineering of equipment of chemical productions;
    • equipment for oil and gas refining.
  • Master of Science 13 - mechanical engineering in the specialty (direction of training) 133 - branch engineering in the educational program:

    • equipment of chemical productions and enterprises of building materials.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the educational program:

    • 161 - chemical technologies and engineering.

Specialists are trained in full-time, part-time and distance learning.

Relevance: Professional training is aimed at the development of such general and special (professional, subject) competencies as skills of information technology (modeling of chemical-technological processes, stress-strain state, finite element strength analysis), ability to develop and manage projects, implement new engineering developments, work in an interdisciplinary team during their implementation and communicate with experts in other fields.

Preparation: Expected learning outcomes require that graduates know the theoretical foundations of chemical technology, oil and gas refining, regeneration and utilization of secondary resources, alternative and renewable energy (including biofuel technologies), and food technology. Graduates should be able to apply FEM / CFD-methods of static and dynamic optimization computer modeling, integrated design and complex engineering, as well as automation of technological lines and complexes using modern CAD / CAE / SCADA-systems. In the process of learning, students, under the guidance of highly qualified teachers, gain skills in designing and calculating the processes and apparatus of the chemical and oil refining industries in accordance with current regulations governing the operation of existing industries. Graduates of this specialty are able to independently conduct computer (mathematical) and physical modeling of hydrodynamic and heat and mass transfer processes, perform mathematical processing and analysis of the results of their own research.

Benefits:

  • research of hydrodynamics and heat and mass transfer in devices with active hydro- and aerodynamic modes for intensification of technological processes;
  • methods of computer modeling and design of equipment in chemical engineering and hardware;
  • Aces of computer 3D modeling of complexes of industrial objects;
  • technology and equipment of chemical engineering;
  • technological lines and complexes for obtaining chemical products, construction materials;
  • techniques and technologies for obtaining and using alternative and renewable energy sources;
  • technologies of regeneration and utilization of secondary resources, biofuel technologies.

Areas of employment:

  • chemical and petrochemical enterprises;

  • oil and gas fields and oil and gas processing enterprises (refineries, refineries);

  • enterprises of food (sugar, meat and dairy, brewing and alcohol), biochemical and pharmaceutical industries;

  • enterprises for the production of building materials;

  • chemical and petroleum engineering enterprises;

  • branch research and design institutes (SRI) and problem research laboratories, design bureaus (KB);

  • private consultants for the development and modernization of enterprises, as well as for the development of new types of chemical equipment;

  • sales companies and service centers for repair of technological equipment;

  • state institutions for environmental and sanitary supervision.
